About

Explore who we are

Founded in 2013, Maskwa emerged with a mission to secure approvals for vital energy projects by providing unique and practical solutions. Led by energy sector specialists, our team is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the industry.

Our story

“Maskwa,” a Cree word for “Bear” is significant at Maskwa as it was the nickname of Pat Foley, who was the grandfather of one of our founding partners, Hudson Foley.

Pat, a proud Métis, worked as a forest ranger in the Swan River Valley area near Slave Lake from the ‘40s - ‘60s and earned this name from the Indigenous communities he served, highlighting his deep connection to the land and local community. Renowned for his wilderness skills and effective collaboration with diverse communities, cultures, and industries, Pat’s legacy inspires Maskwa to embody these values in everything we do.
