Explore who we are
Established in 2013, Maskwa was founded with a mission to secure approvals for critical energy projects through unique and practical solutions. Guided by experienced energy sector specialists, our team is committed to driving meaningful progress across the industry.

Our story

“Maskwa,” a Cree word for “bear”, holds special significance for us at Maskwa.
Maskwa was the nickname of Pat Foley, the grandfather of one of our founding partners, Hudson Foley.
A proud Métis, Pat worked as a forest ranger in the Swan River Valley area near Slave Lake, Alberta, from the 1940s to the 1960s. He earned this name from the Indigenous communities he served, reflecting his deep connection to the land and local community.
Renowned for his wilderness expertise and his ability to collaborate effectively with diverse communities, cultures, and industries, Pat’s legacy continues to inspire Maskwa to uphold these values in everything we do.
